Through sponsorships generated by the Los Angeles County business community, the Deputy Sheriff’s of LASPA provides the children of families in financial hardship with comprehensive eye examinations and prescription eyeglasses. Working in partnership with the participation of local school districts and charitable service organizations, our goal is to give these children the tools they need to stay focused in the classroom, on the athletic field and off the streets. During the Holiday Season, our ‘Adopt a Family’ provides food baskets, clothes and toys for families who are otherwise unable to afford such items.

2016 Thanksgiving and Christmas Adopt a Family Program

LASPA Cares for kids had the privileged of reaching out to families through our Adopt-A-Family Program and this year we were able to extend our donations to over 100 families during this Holiday Season. Many Families received food boxes as well as toys. Our program has really extended and successfully has reached out to many families during these difficult times. LASPA Cares for Kids staff is proud to be part of such a rewarding program.

This year we were also able to receive many volunteers to help out during Thanksgiving and Christmas. We would like to specially thank the Girls Scouts of America Troop Walnut and Troop Alhambra. Thank you to all the Parents and girl scouts for all your help; the Board of Directors and staff members really appreciate each one of you for your time and dedication to our organization. Here are a few pictures we would like to share of the Girl Scouts as well as the families who were chosen this year.

LASPA'S 2013 Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program

Once again, LASPA in collaboration with our charitable organization LASPA Cares for Kids held its annual Christmas Adopt-A-Family Program. In our community outreach efforts, we were able to donate to many underprivileged families a food and necessities box, along with a ham, and toys for the children. We also had the privilege of donating some hams to a nearby women’s shelter in Downtown Los Angeles, and for the families that were referred by some of our LASPA members (that live too far), we mailed them a Walmart gift card.

This year’s program was very special, since we had the opportunity to help more families then in recent years. This is our third year running this program, and it has really grown to be successful. The majority of the families live in our surrounding community, and also many of them have children attending some of the local daycare centers. Many families were referred by Centro de Los Niños, Pace Daycare Center, and Child Development Consortium in East Los Angeles. This year, we decided to do something different. In order to reach out to more families, we asked them to stop by our office to pick up their items and take a picture by our Christmas tree. For those families that did not have reliable transportation, we did not want to leave them out; therefore, we left our home deliveries exclusively to them. We invite you to visit our website at www.laspa.org, to view the pictures of some of the families that we had the pleasure of helping.

LASPA’s 2013 Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Family-Program

Once again, LASPA in collaboration with our non-profit organization LASPA Cares for Kids held the Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Family Program. In our community outreach efforts LASPA donated a turkey and a food box filled with food items for an adequate Thanksgiving dinner to over 50 families that are sadly facing some sort of hardship.

This year’s program was a complete success, since LASPA was able to help double the families then in previous years. This is our third year running this program, and it has really grown in the past few years.

During the deliveries, LASPA’s staff members got to witness firsthand the necessities that many of our community members are facing, and are proud to work for such a wonderful and caring union. Thankfully, LASPA continues to grow and is able to have programs like the Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Family! Below are some pictures that we would like to share with you from this year’s distribution of the turkey and food box.
